Niki de Saint Phalle bridge: a structuring portion of the Tzen 5 site is delivered to the Ardoines

Published on

Open to traffic since October 10, the Niki de Saint Phalle bridge in Vitry-sur-Seine, crosses the tracks of the RER C and already reserves a corridor for the Tzen 5. This is a concrete step for the project, and an essential link in the service of the Ardoines district.

A shared public space

Built by the Établissement public d'aménagement Orly-Rungis – Seine Amont (EPA ORSA), developer of the ZAC Gare Ardoines, the bridge connects the Ardoines station to the banks of the Seine. Including ramps, it stretches over 300 metres, and is about thirty metres wide. Each mode of transport has its place: a wide pavement for pedestrians, a two-way cycle path, a traffic lane in each direction and, on half of the structure, the Tzen 5 site. This sharing of space reflects one of the key objectives of Tzen 5: to requalify the public space crossed by giving more space to pedestrians and cyclists, for more pleasant and safer streets.

A structuring portion of the Tzen 5 site, built ahead of phase

Work on the line began in September, but the dedicated site has already been built ahead of schedule for several years, as major land development operations have been carried out. The Niki de Saint Phalle bridge is a concrete illustration of this.

More accessible neighbourhoods

The Tzen 5 will thus directly serve the Ardoines district, which has long been cut in two by railway tracks and SNCF facilities. Its "Gare Ardoines" station, located in the immediate vicinity of the station, will offer a direct connection with the RER C and the future line 15 South of the Grand Paris Express.

A lever for the development of the territory

The Ardoines are one of the most important development operations in France. 8,000 housing units, 20,000 jobs, offices, shops, facilities and public spaces are planned. By effectively connecting this changing district to the rest of the metropolis, Tzen 5 will contribute to its attractiveness and economic and social development.
